Emma Goldman, the feminist activist, once wrote about dance as "freedom, the right to self-expression, everybody's right to beautiful, radiant things"--often summarized by the slogan, "If I can't dance, I don't want to be in your revolution." I try to embody this philosophy through my love of Irish dance, a folk dancing form that has historically served as a radical act of resistance. When not working on academic research, I'm often found in the dance studio. I've been Irish dancing for nearly 30 years and am a two-time regional champion as an Adult Masters soloist. In 2022, my team and I won the World Irish Dancing Championships held in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I am a proud dual Irish-American citizen.
