I am an Assistant Professor of Health Systems, Management & Policy in the Colorado School of Public Health at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. I am also a research affiliate of the CU Injury and Violence Prevention Center and the Children's Data Network.
I study public child- & family-serving systems, public health surveillance of child maltreatment, and the role of social policy in promoting maternal & child health and safety. I primarily use theory-driven, social epidemiologic models and population-based, linked administrative records to inform the development of policies and practices that support children and families.
I have used large datasets to advance social justice aims at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, the Public Health Foundation of India, the National Court Appointed Special Advocates/Guardians ad Litem Association for Children, the Global Center for Integrated Health of Women, Adolescents, and Children, and the Children's Data Network. My work can be found in Child Abuse & Neglect, The Lancet, and BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, among other academic journals.
I earned my Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work. In 2017, I completed my MPH in global health at the University of Washington and a competitive, three-year data science fellowship at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. I attended Colorado College, where I graduated with distinction in Neuroscience and minored in Bioethics.
